Description
The Horta-Guinardo district, the third largest in the city, is located in the northeast of Barcelona, between Gracia and Nou Barris, and is characterised by a rugged relief with mountains, hills and valleys. Its abundant green spaces make it one of the most attractive areas for those who want to enjoy peace and nature.
Hidden among the slopes of these neighbourhoods, we can discover authentic jewels of Barcelona’s avant-garde architecture and art, such as the Pavilion of the Republic or the “Visual Poem” sculpture by Joan Brossa. On the other hand, in the old town you can enjoy small squares and streets that recall the city’s rural and independent past, such as Plaga d’Eivissa and its Surroundings, or the Horta laundries in Aiguafreda Street.
In addition to first-rate healthcare facilities, such as the Vall d’Hebron Health Centre or the Llars Mundet, the district has outstanding green and leisure areas, such as part of the Parc de Collserola; or the magnificent Parc del Laberint, from the late 18th century, with a neoclassical design garden with a pond and a classical labyrinth of pruned cypresses with an intricate path.
